I am a wife and mother of five who is a licensed homebirth midwife, certified doula, certified childbirth educator, and certified breastfeeding counselor. I have been attending births since 1995. Not only was I born in Arizona, I am a fifth generation Arizonian who is honored to be helping families have a better birth experience, if not directly, then through those I have trained as doulas and childbirth educators.

    While my home and office are in Mesa, I travel all over the valley (and surrounding areas).

I am a Certified Doula and Childbirth Educator and I have experience with: Hosptial birth, home birth, unmedicated birth, medicated birth, adoptive situations, young mothers, first time mothers and I hold a special place for those VBAC moms because I was a VBAC mom myself.My services include, but not limited to, 2-3 prenatal appointments, on-call two weeks before and after your due date and phone support anytime. I charge $500 for my Doula fees and am willing to barter on a case by case bases. I give a very generous discount for those who take my childbirth classes. I am willing to work Valley Wide and in surrounding areas.

I have given birth to three amazing people who make my life very interesting. My experiences created a yearning to help other women have rewarding births filled with respect, joy and a sense of amazement at the act of bringing another being into existence. I've had a variety of birth experiences and appreciate the benefits of natural childbirth, and respect women who choose a medicated birth. I have walked both paths at different times in my life. All of my experiences have been amazing, and I've learned about myself and the birth process through each one.

Every woman is capable of birth, and each woman knows what she needs to have the experience she wants. I can support women in any setting of their choice. I can work with Mom & Dad or be Mom's sole support at her birth. I have a special place in my heart for every Mom. I have been a Doula since moving to Mesa, Arizona in April of 2000. I have attended hospital births and home births. I believe that birth is one of the most powerful moments in a woman's life. It is my goal to help women walk away from each of their births with an increased sense of self confidence and awe at not only themselves, but at the miracle of birth itself. I believe that birth can be successful in a variety of outcomes and approaches. My own births have profoundly influenced my practice and belief system about birth. They include: a hospital induction, a home birth with a midwife, a home labor and rapid hospital delivery, an emergency cesarean and a beautiful VBAC. My specialties are Essential Oils (Aromatherapy) for labor and delivery and a variety of other alternative medicine/energy medicine support for mom and baby.

In 2004, I certified as a childbirth instructor and doula with the American Academy of Husband Coached Childbirth, (AAHCC) the organization overseeing The Bradley Method of Natural Childbirth. In 2006, I became a Certified Breastfeeding Counselor and am continuing my education in the field of lactation support.

I believe that the human body is beautifully designed to give birth, and that with proper support, birth can be the most joyful and empowering experiences in woman's life, resulting in the strongest bond possible with her baby and her partner. I am aware that the birthing experience is different for every mother and am honored to be able to support women in the birth of their preference, therefore I offer doula services to all women, whether they are planning to birth in a hospital, birth center, or at home.

My name is Shannon Guse' and I am a wife to Matthew and mother to one son, Nathaniel. I have lived in Arizona since 1995 and currently reside in East Mesa. I am currently getting my certification through DONA to be a Birth and Postpartum Doula. I have been a stay-at-home mom for over a year and I am looking to help other moms have a great birth and postpartum experience with their new baby. As a postpartum Doula, I will provide breastfeeding support, help with newborn care, daily housework, childcare for other children, and emotional support for the new family. As a birth Doula, I will provide guided imagery, massage, and emotional support to mom and dad, physical support to mom, and I can also take pictures to remember your happy day! I can assist in hospital births and home births. I hope to make your birth a Bella Birth!
